the office
Now that I work in an office, it seems that the episodes of the show are much funnier. Not that I think I couldn't really relate before, but I think I now better understand the context. Speaking of working in an office, I think I need to simply wear earplugs all the time. I get so easily annoyed by all the random noise and chatter around me! Someone in the office has their ring tone set to sound like meditation bells and it's really loud and clear. Which is great I guess, but not for someone who thinks it's time to start quiet reflection. And because of the short nature of the ring, I can't find out who it is (so I can smash their phone). I swear, when I get an iPhone (and I WILL, heaven help me!), my ring tone is going to be set to the sound howler monkeys during mating season and the volume will be at maximum.

Yeah..some offices worse than others about the noise. And mine's really bad right now because everyone just yells over the cubicle to each other versus getting up and going to walk. And our new furniture has no sound dampening qualities at all. I liked it much better when the office was in Concord and I actually had my own WALLS! These days, I usually have my headphones on and am listening to something to try and drown out the other noise.
My office is horrible right now.. there is construction going on beneath me so I have jackhammers and hammering going up my ass ALL DAY LONG. My tolerance for noise was very little before I worked here but it's been amazing how much I've been able to tune out with all this construction going on non stop.
Whew! I'm glad I'm not alone in the war of noise. Though I can't stand to wear them all day, the office manager gave me a set of Bose Quiet Comfort 2 noise canceling head phones to use and surprisingly, they work really well! The only downside is that battery life is a paltry 30 hours (more like 20 in my experience). But I have rechargeable triple A's, so I don't have to deal with the guilt of dumping a bunch of batteries away :)
I am so glad I have a private office. =)
Lucky! Of course, if I had a private office I'd probably just play warbook all day or surf porn.
